Director of Administration/UNESCAP

Soomi Ro is the Director of Administration at ESCAP, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. She has over 20 years of experience in logistics services, procurement, project management, innovation, and infrastructure support services with the United Nations, as well as the private sector. She has extensive experience in enabling partnerships with UN vendors to advance the SDGs in UN operations ensuring private sector involvement and engagement.

At ESCAP, she is leading the continuation of ESCAP’s greening efforts in facilities and operations, including the action to #beat plastic pollution which started in 2018 with the ban on single-use plastics in ESCAP’s catering operations. Ms. Ro holds a Master of Architecture degree in Urban Design and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architectural Studies from the National University of Singapore, as well as a Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Advance diploma.
